The CFJC’s President and CEO, Shelly Maharry, addressed the Trump Administration’s executive order to freeze federal funding in a recent KCRG-TV9 segment. Her remarks were featured alongside those of Christine Hayes, Director of Development at Shelter House.

JOHNSON CO., Iowa (KCRG) – A federal judge temporarily blocked President Trump’s move to pause federal funding for grants, loans, and assistance programs…This order caused chaos, as programs and agencies were unsure if they were impacted.
“That is the open question right now, is for our sheltering work for our housing work, how long will we be able to continue,” said Director of development of Shelter House, Christine Hayes.
Shelter House isn’t alone. The Community Foundation of Johnson County helps fund hundreds of nonprofits including community crisis and food banks, free medical clinics, free medical clinics, and free and reduced lunch programs.
“To log into your federal grants portals and not be able to access it, not be able to draw down the funds you’ve already been awarded, is very concerning,” said Shelly Maharry, President and CEO of Community Foundation of Johnson County…
