2025 Community Foundation Week

Community Foundation Week, November 12 – November 18, highlights the important role community foundations play in strengthening our communities. Thanks to their unique position to understand local community needs, community foundations serve as connectors, conveners, and catalysts for change.

Community Foundation Week was created in 1989 by former president George H.W. Bush to recognize the work of community foundations throughout the United States and their collaborative approach to working with the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to address community problems.

Community foundations have the distinct ability to:

  • Build Local Partnerships: We collaborate with nonprofits, government agencies, and business leaders to align efforts and maximize impact.
  • Respond Quickly to Crisis: We can mobilize resources rapidly during emergencies with deep local knowledge and flexible funding.
  • Support Enduring Philanthropy: As trusted charitable giving partners, we help donors create lasting legacies through endowments and planned giving, ensuring that charitable goals endure for generations to come.

Community Foundation Week is a potent reminder of the transformative power of local philanthropy. An investment in your community foundation is an investment in our community’s shared future.
