Johnson County’s Annual Great Give Day to be held May 7

These are undoubtedly challenging times, and many of our most vulnerable neighbors are facing increased hardship. The future of the places and spaces we cherish can feel uncertain.

However, this moment also presents an opportunity for us to take action – locally and together.

May 7th marks the third annual Johnson County Great Give Day, a collective day of giving to local nonprofits.

If there’s an issue in our community, you can guarantee there’s a nonprofit here in Johnson County ready to meet that need. From affordable housing, to legal assistance, to environmental stewardship, to arts and cultural programming, our county is home to many nonprofits changing lives and shaping Johnson County into a stronger and more caring community.

Join us on May 7th for Johnson County Great Give Day.

If you represent a nonprofit based in Johnson County, list your organization in our giving directory at johnsoncountygreatgiveday.org, which also gives your organization access to marketing tools for the 2025 Johnson County Great Give Day. Help drive awareness not just for your mission, but also bring awareness to the critical work being done by nonprofits in our community every day.

If you live or work in Johnson County, proudly give to as many Johnson County nonprofits as you are able. Perhaps you’ll support some of your favorite organizations or even find some new nonprofits to support in light of these changing times. It is more important than ever to invest in community power.

The Johnson County Great Give Day is powered by the Community Foundation of Johnson County, whose mission is to “connect communities who care with causes that matter to support sustainable change.” Leaders from four area “Nonprofit Champions” are serving as the steering committee for this Great Give Day: CommUnity Crisis Services and Food Bank, FilmScene, the Foundation for the Iowa City Community School District, and No Foot Too Small.
