President & CEO Shelly Maharry Earns Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) Designation

Shelly Maharry, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Johnson County, has been awarded the prestigious Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of the American College of Financial Services.

The CAP® designation is a mark of excellence in philanthropic planning, awarded to professionals who complete a rigorous curriculum focused on the complex strategies of charitable giving. This credential equips nonprofit and financial professionals with the expertise to collaborate effectively with donors, financial advisors, and estate planners to maximize philanthropic impact.

Shelly Maharry’s achievement reflects her deep commitment to advancing strategic philanthropy in Johnson County and beyond. With this designation, she joins a distinguished group of professionals nationwide who are shaping the future of charitable giving.

In addition to earning the CAP® designation, Maharry holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and master’s degree in public administration from Drake University. She is also recognized as a Fellow in Charitable Estate Planning (FCEP) from the Charitable Estate Planning Institute.
