The deadline is approaching for the Coralville Community fund, it’s a grant that supports nonprofits that help people in Coralville. The grant originally launched in 2006 and has helped dozens of groups over its nearly 20-year history.
“It is affirming that the work that we’re doing is important and that other people value it,” Elton said. “It’s really great to be able to extend that past sort of the walls of our bookmobile and receive that support because without the funding for something like this, it’s just not possible.”
Because of limited funding it can be a tough call which groups get this support, which is one of the reasons the grant is spread across several groups every year.
“We prefer to kind of sprinkle that money to as many organizations as we can, but still have it be an amount that has an impact,” Keith Jones, chairperson for the Coralville Community Fund, said.
