The Community Foundation of Johnson County is excited to share that President & CEO Shelly Maharry has been selected for the 2026–27 Leadership Iowa class, joining 39 other leaders from across the state for one of Iowa’s premier leadership development programs.
Presented by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation, Leadership Iowa brings together leaders from a variety of communities, industries, and backgrounds to learn more about the people, opportunities, and challenges shaping Iowa. Throughout the year, participants travel to communities across the state for sessions focused on topics ranging from economic development and education to healthcare, government, agriculture, manufacturing, and public service.
For Maharry, the experience is a natural extension of her work at the CFJC, where collaboration and community leadership are central to building a stronger Johnson County. Leadership Iowa will offer opportunities to learn alongside leaders from across Iowa, exchange ideas, build new relationships, and bring new perspectives back to our community.
“Being selected for Leadership Iowa is an incredible opportunity to learn more deeply about our state and from the people working to move Iowa communities forward,” Maharry said. “I’m especially excited to build relationships with leaders from across Iowa and bring those ideas and perspectives back to Johnson County.”
Maharry and the 2026–27 class will begin their Leadership Iowa experience this fall and participate in sessions across the state through June 2027.
