Every year the Iowa City Area Business Partnership connects with their network of more than 675 Community Leadership Program (CLP) alumni with a nominal ask to voluntarily contribute $30 to ensure the continued success of the program. This year, as they enter the 30th year of CLP and as we navigate COVID-19, their need for support is even greater.
Like many other organizations, the Iowa City Area Business Partnership is experiencing impact to our key revenue streams (membership dues, sponsorships, and events and programs) and, as a 501(c)(6) non-profit, we are currently not eligible for financial assistance through vehicles such as the Paycheck Protection Program.
Community leadership is more important than ever. In order to provide the deep community knowledge, connections, and grass-roots engagement for which CLP has become known, they are asking for your help. Please consider contributing a larger amount this year, if you can. We realize this is a big ask as many individuals are also experiencing financial impact due to COVID-19 and there are so, so many needs out there right now. Any amount helps. Your contribution will be used wisely to support the following:
- Scholarships to participants who cannot afford to pay the full price for the program
- Operational costs such as providing quality meals via local restaurants and caterers, additional safety materials (masks, hand sanitizer, etc.), and amenities for the retreat (our most costly session)
- Alumni programming to continue informing and engaging our over 675 alumni in community development efforts, especially as we work together to recover from COVID-19
- Provide financial support for community service projects
We are excited to announce the CLP Alumni Fund has been set up through the Community Foundation of Johnson County (which, by the way, was created by the CLP class of 2000!). This fund will allow your donation to be tax deductible as a charitable contribution.
