UPCOMING GRANT CYCLES

Spring Capacity Building Grants

The purpose of this grant cycle is to support the operations, growth, and sustainability of local nonprofit organizations, especially new, grassroots, and BIPOC-led organizations. The maximum request amount will be $2,500. Learn more about grant eligibility, application details, and more here. Applications open on January 26, 2026 and close on February 20, 2026. Coldren Fund for Seniors Grants

The Coldren Fund for Seniors supports projects and activities that assist adults 65+ of limited income. Grants will be a maximum of $5,000. Requests should be program/project focused and directly impact our aging population in Johnson County, Iowa. Applications open on March 2, 2026 and close on March 20, 2026. Coralville Community Fund Grants

The Coralville Community Fund was launched in 2006 to build, invest, and distribute funds for local nonprofit projects that impact Coralville residents. By pooling the resources of many individual gifts and building an endowment fund, the Coralville Community Fund will support a broad range of existing and future charitable projects in the community forever. Applications open on March 1, 2026 and close on March 22, 2026. Details can be found here.

Swisher Community Fund Grants

The Swisher Community Fund was established in 2005 to support the charitable efforts that make our community stronger, more vibrant, and more connected. Through this fund, we provide financial support to nonprofits and projects that directly benefit the Swisher area and its residents. The Swisher Community Fund Grant maximum request amount is $1,500. Applications open on February 13, 2026 and close on March 31, 2026. Learn more and apply here.

PREVIOUS GRANT CYCLES

Fall Community Impact Grants

The purpose of this grant cycle was to invest in major projects which substantially increase the quality of life for Johnson County residents through services provided by local nonprofit organizations. More information on the 2026 Fall Community Impact Grants Cycle will be available by late summer 2026.

Inclusive Johnson County Fund Grants

The Inclusive Johnson County Fund is a community-supported fund held at the CFJC which provides financial support for community outreach and education, the promotion of diversity and inclusion within nonprofit organizations, supports cultural events, and more. The fund previously awarded over $20,000 in grants to local organizations. This fund will re-open for granting pending its growth from community contributions. Applications are currently closed.

5224GOOD Grants

5224GOOD is a learning and giving circle dedicated to educating their members about philanthropy and community needs in Johnson County through social and networking opportunities. 5224GOOD partners with the Community Foundation of Johnson County (CFJC) to manage the 5224GOOD Charitable Fund and the 5224GOOD Endowed Fund. For 2025, the granting focus area was Immigrant and Refugee Support. Applications are currently closed.

Grant Interest Areas

The Community Foundation grants to local nonprofit organizations in six interest areas. These areas are determined by the State of Iowa through the County Endowment Fund Program and enable the CFJC to report our grantmaking accurately. Organizations applying for grants from the Community Foundation can self-identify into one of the following areas.

The Community Foundation of Johnson County is committed to working toward a future where all are welcomed, invited to the table, protected, and regarded as equal. Our board of directors and staff have worked diligently to continuously revise our grantmaking to meet best practices in the field, be accessible to grassroots through established organizations, and provide financial support through equitable processes.
