The Community Foundation of Johnson County hosts an annual competitive grants cycle. These grants are concentrated in six focus areas: Arts, Culture & Humanities; Education; Environment & Animals; Health; Human Services; and Public & Societal Benefit. The process to award these grants to eligible 501(c)3 nonprofits consist of an application from the nonprofit, community review, CFJC Grants Committee review, and CFJC Board of Directors’ approval. The CFJC is looking for community reviewers to evaluate applications for the community review process. The responsibilities of this role are listed below.
Community grants reviewers will be assigned to a team of reviewers based in one of the six focus areas. Each team will review applications for their assigned focus area only. The reviewers will be given access to an online grants portal to review applications and provide feedback through an evaluation form. Grants reviewers will then meet with their grants team to discuss the applications and rank them in order of recommended funding. Reviewers will need access to internet, email, and be able to utilize the online grants system. Training on how to navigate the online grants system and the grant evaluation criteria will be provided. Additionally, all reviewers will be required to submit our Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality disclosure forms.
