Storm Season is Approaching – Help Our Community Be Prepared

As storm season approaches, we remind folks of the Johnson County Emergency Response Fund. This charitable giving fund offered donors an efficient method of giving to support the recovery efforts of our Johnson County communities in times of emergency- whether man-made or natural disaster. The fund is open for donations all year-round, but activates to make grants in times of disaster. Grants from the fund are made to local 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations who are supporting relief and recovery efforts to our neighbors in need.

The fund was last active in July of 2023, making three grants totaling $9,000 of support to local nonprofits helping our community recover from the impacts of tornadoes and strong winds. As we look ahead to the spring and summer months, we share this information again, knowing that deploying charitable dollars as quickly as possible in times of disaster is paramount.

CFJC staff members also participate in the Johnson County COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster) planning and response efforts directed by Johnson County Emergency Management Services to ensure a collaborative and expansive response effort. The Community Foundation of Johnson County is proud to be a partner in response efforts during times of emergent need.
